Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work with high school students who come from very challenging home lives such as single-parent households or who are living with older siblings, grandparents, or other guardians. Covid has impacted our community greatly bringing economic hardship and needs to address health concerns, trauma, academic challenges, and healthy well-being. What I love about my students is their resiliency despite the enormous challenges most of them face. Most of our students come from low income homes, and most qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

My Project

The books in this project will be added to the counseling library for students to check out. All these books are on the subject of trauma, building resiliency, mindfulness, self-esteem and other coping skills for healing from trauma and other adversities that impact both our mind, body and behaviors.

The books in this project can be borrowed by the student and taken home for the entire family to read.

The tools in the book can help families heal from generational trauma or help with personal growth and the development of healthy well-being.
