My Project

My students are resilient, curious, and full of potential. Every day, they come to school ready to learn, grow, and overcome challenges. I love their unique personalities, their creativity, and their willingness to support one another. They bring different strengths, experiences, and perspectives into the classroom, making our learning community rich and diverse. I especially admire their determination and the way they continue to persevere even when learning or life becomes difficult.

As a school counselor and SEL educator, I believe every student deserves an environment where they feel valued, comfortable, and empowered to succeed.

My students learn in different ways, and many of them benefit from opportunities to move and choose learning spaces that meet their individual needs. Flexible seating will allow students to select seating options that help them focus and regulate their emotions. Some students concentrate better while gently moving on a wobble stool, while others feel more comfortable working from a floor cushion, bean bag chair, or standing workstation. Providing these choices supports self-awareness and self-management, two essential social-emotional learning skills that are crucial for personal growth.

Additionally, flexible seating will encourage collaboration, communication, and positive peer interactions. Students will have opportunities to work together in comfortable spaces while developing relationship skills and learning to respect one another's needs. When students feel physically comfortable and emotionally supported, they are more likely to participate, take academic risks, and remain engaged in learning.

Most importantly, flexible seating, sensory tools, and SEL games send a powerful message to my students: their needs matter. By creating an environment that recognizes and accommodates different learning styles, I can help students build confidence, strengthen social-emotional skills, and reach their full potential. My students deserve a classroom that supports the whole child, and flexible seating will help make that vision a reality.
