Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students have begun working with third grade buddies, and are building puppet theaters to create wonderful cultural folk tale performances for them, using "crankie boxes" as their format. Scrolls with original student art will be inserted into these physics boxes, created and built by students. The students will also build circuits to light the backlight of the box, and will create shadow puppets and hand puppets to tell their folk tale to young audiences. The students will also have the option to add a missing character or "chapter" of the story, using their writing skills and imaginations to learn how storytelling is a living art form.
