Help me give my students magnet letters for building individual sight words, sight word puzzles for practicing all sight words and organization bins for sight word centers.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This is my fourth year teaching at a Title I school. My students come from different backgrounds and cultures in a low socioeconomic community. Every student at our school has free breakfast in the classroom and free lunch. These students spend most of their day in our classrooms and eat two out of their three meals of the day at our school. School is a place where these students can feel safe, nurtured and loved. Even though my students may face challenges every day, they always have a smile on their face.
My students are always excited to learn and develop their brains.
I want to continuously inspire them in their love of learning. In order to properly do this, I need to provide them with the necessary resources and support to reach their full potential.
My Project
In our classroom we learn new sight words every week. Sight words help my students read more fluently and accurately allowing them to grow as readers throughout the year. Sight word practice is something we do everyday all year long through hands-on centers. These letters and puzzles will allow my students more hands-on options for building their sight words and help centers run smoothly in our classroom. I believe that if they are able to build and manipulate the words they will truly get to know the words. Building words also helps with my English language learners because it gives them the opportunity to work with letters that they may still need practice with.
