A large part of our reading curriculum revolves around students' individual reading levels. In first grade students have the largest range of reading level growth. Students coming into first grade start reading at a level B/C and leave first grade at a level I. Having a leveled library in the classroom supports me in my teaching and the reading development of each student in my classroom. A leveled library allows for students to read books at their own level, building their reading confidence and love of reading. When students love to read, it inspires them to read more! My goal by the end of the year is to have each of my students reading at grade level and ready for second grade. I can accomplish this goal through creating and implementing a leveled library in my classroom.
