Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students need a hands-on financial literacy experience where they can earn, budget, save, and spend through interactive Life Town stations. Students will receive classroom currency and travel from station to station, making real-world financial decisions while participating in creative STEAM activities. In our classroom, learning goes beyond textbooks. My students are eager to explore real-life skills that will prepare them for their futures, and financial literacy is one of the most important skills they can develop early in life. Through our JB43 Life Town Financial Literacy Experience, students will become active citizens in their own mini town where they earn classroom money, create budgets, make spending choices, and reflect on their financial decisions.

Students will receive a paycheck in classroom currency and visit different “business stations” throughout our school.

At each station, students will decide how to spend their money while participating in engaging hands-on activities that connect financial literacy with creativity, problem-solving, and entrepreneurship.

Our stations will include exciting experiences such as:

Slime Shop, Jewelry Boutique, Builders Market, Minecraft Engineering Station, Clay Creation Studio, Art Marketplace, STEM Discovery Shop, As students move through each station, they will practice:

Budgeting, Counting money, Making financial decisions, Distinguishing needs vs. wants, Saving for future purchases, Problem-solving, Collaboration and Creativity.

This project will transform our classroom into a real-world learning environment where students can build confidence, independence, and financial responsibility while having fun.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
