Help me give my students hands on materials to help build foundational math skills.
This project expired on February 27, 2019.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My Kindergartner students have shown an enthusiasm for learning and a need to use manipulatives to help them with their learning. It's always exciting to see their faces beam when they “get it”. I want to provide a learning space where they have the manipulatives to help them in their learning of foundational math skills.
I believe “hands-on” learning is important in a Kindergarten classroom, especially when it comes to math.
My students are five and six years old and attend a downtown school where most students receive a free or reduced lunch.
Math is fun and a very big part of our daily lives. Providing hands-on materials will make it more accessible to my students.
In order for my students to build number sense they will need to understand numbers and how to use them in mathematical relationships and concepts.
Trying to understand what numbers mean and being able to perform mental mathematics is a tall order for a five year old Kindergartner.
I can help my students reach that goal by using the ETA hand2mind Daily Math Fluency Kit as daily practice, all year long, to help my students develop efficiency, flexibility, and accuracy in their basic math facts.
