My kindergarten students come from a variety of ethnic, cultural and lower socioeconomic backgrounds. They are kind, love helping one another and make friends easily. They seem happiest when they are working together.
These students come to school each morning eager to play together, work hard and learn lots!
Phrases like "Good job", "Can I help you with that?" and "Let's clean up!" are often overheard in my classroom. After only 15 days of school, these students are already operating like a team.
My students have a full set of wooden building blocks. However, there is no storage for the blocks. Research shows that building with blocks promotes mathematics, problem solving, self-expression, imagination, creativity, science and socialization. The lack of storage prevents us from using the blocks at all. A storage cabinet will not only organize the blocks, but give the blocks a "home", thus allowing students access to the blocks and ease of use. Blocks and building are an integral part of the kindergarten classroom. Providing this storage cabinet will give the kindergarten students year-round school access to their building block center.
