My Project

As a first year teacher I am working to expand my classroom read-alouds. These books cover topics such as social emotional learning, black history, empowerment, holidays and of course a some silly ones. A lot of the books I have chose also represent my students better. When they see stories with pictures of boys and girls who look like them they always get so excited. We love having read aloud time, it feels like a time we are really able to connect as the students tell stories about how the book relates to them.

Read-alouds showing representation in the classroom make students feel welcome and heard.

That is why it is so important to me to have these stories in my classroom. Thank you for all of your support!
