My Students

My students come to my class with varying ability levels. They come from very different backgrounds and home lives. They always try to do their best in my class.

I want to hear from my students and learn what they know.

I also want them to be able to learn from each other and understand how this can help them be successful in their future education and also in their future careers. I think fostering mathematical conversation is crucial for being successful mathematicians.

My Project

I want students to build on the language that we create together in class. I saw this used in a summer school professional development session, and I think it really helped. My plan is to start with a key idea and what we know about it and save the paper from day to day and keep building on it.

Students need to see new terminology every day to be able to truly understand and use it.

I specifically asked for this chart paper and easel because I can use it from day to day with multiple classes and it won't get wiped away at the end of the day/week. It allows me to have ample space to build on critical ideas.
