I have 17 Pre-K students in my class. My students come from diverse backgrounds, cultures and abilities, many being English Language Learners. Many of these students need hands-on materials and visuals to understand and learn better. My students come in every morning eager to learn new things. They are all so unique and individual in their own way, each contributing something special to our class.
Our Pre-K class is a special place where little things means a lot.
We are not just a class but a family. My students do not just learn academically but socially too. It may be difficult for 4 year olds to learn proper social skills but not in this classroom. These children have all learned how to be a good friend, how to care for others, how to show respect, how to communicate feelings the right way and most importantly how to be kind. My goal is to provide all students with multiple opportunities for hands-on experiences and student-inquiry based lessons to help them achieve academic success and build a foundation for all future learning.
My Project
Building strong math and literacy skills in early childhood education will provide a foundation all children need to succeed in elementary school and beyond. These materials will help engage my students into learning number identification, counting, letter recognition, and letter formation. Also, students will learn about colors, shapes, and comparing objects.
Early learning of letters and numbers set the building blocks for children's entire academic career.
My students can use the peg number boards, magnetic counting maze and the see inside counting tubes to help with counting and number recognition. They can use the trace and write alphabet center and the follow the dot stamps to practice letter formation and letter recognition. The alpha bots and the number bots are an absolute favorite for so many of my children as it is a fun and engaging way to learn numbers and letters through play.
By providing a classroom environment that is rich in literacy and math, it encourages children to develop strong literacy and math skills needed throughout life. As a teacher I strive to provide the most engaging learning environment for all my students. The best way this can be done is with manipulatives that gain the interest and attention of my students. Please help my students learn math and literacy skills with their fullest potential.
