Teaching preschool as a special education teacher in the public school system is a fantastic experience! My group of young learners that I have this year has shown remarkable resiliency through these crazy times and transitions. We have been lucky enough to be back to in-person learning five days a week, and I think my kids are just as excited as we are!
This classroom is full of 6 wonderful, kind, and caring little learners.
We are an Autism support classroom that is a mixture of typical peers and students who have been identified with Autism. The love for being at school is undeniable when you see our friends working together to solve problems and sharing toys and ideas.
We look forward to giving them any and everything they need to continue to be successful even with the wild rollercoaster that is life happening around us!
My Project
My students are so creative and love to express that creativeness through their building! Right now we have the basic wood blocks and fun add-in items like small pumpkins in fall and small pine trees in winter. With the items from this project, my students will have so much more opportunity to build and create bigger and better things!
Building with blocks is both a great exercise for the mind and hands but it is also an amazing time to practice teamwork!
Right now, my students are really into exploring the colors of the rainbow and making rainbows out of things like Legos and our colored light table blocks. With the rainbow arches and squares set, my kids will be able to integrate more rainbow and color identification into their creations with woodblock.
The light table has been a very fun addition to our playtime during the week. With the addition of the magnetic pattern blocks and crystal building blocks, the fun of building and creating will be able to happen across multiple different areas of the room. This will also be a very great way to continue the conversations about rainbows and colors.
