My Project
As a Language coach, I support Emergent Bilingual students in the K-2 classrooms. Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination support language development through sensory play and are crucial for literacy development. Outdoor sand tables are valuable for learning because they encourage open-ended play, which promotes exploration, experimentation, and problem-solving. They support physical, social, and cognitive development by helping children learn concepts like measurement, volume, and fractions in a fun, hands-on way.
The Goals for this project are to offer opportunities for both language development and scientific discovery, like exploring how sand and water interact, and allow for sensory experiences that engage children's senses and understanding of different textures.
It is an inclusive activity, enjoyed by children of all abilities, which fosters social interaction and a sense of belonging.
