This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

In my second-grade class, learners come to school each day eager to learn and grow as important members of our classroom community!

My learners love using their hands and hearts to understand the world around them.

Our school is a small, STEAM charter school that focuses on inquiry and project-based learning. My students come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds, but they don't let their circumstances define them. We make sure to instill in each learner that they are capable of greatness.

My Project

Reading opens up many doors for students to be able to succeed in all subjects throughout the school day. Many of my learners struggle academically due to low reading levels and are unable to read books that truly interest them. As they continue to grow their reading skills, technology provides them the autonomy to learn on an individualized level. Technology offers supplemental support to my learners when I am unable to give them the one-on-one they need.

Through the use of headphones, my learners will be guided through additional phonics lessons, read stories with assistance, and be more independent.

Headphones will help give my learners the extra assistance they require to be ready to learn.
