My Project

My multilingual learners come to school with incredible strengths, unique perspectives, and a desire to communicate, create, and belong. They are learning English while simultaneously mastering grade-level content, making every hands-on learning opportunity especially meaningful. My goal is to create a classroom where language comes to life through creativity, collaboration, and real-world problem solving.

A 3D printer, filament, and design tools will allow students to design, build, and explain their own learning materials.

Together, we will create vocabulary supports, science models, math manipulatives, geography resources, classroom organizers, and other hands-on tools that make abstract concepts easier to understand. Many commercial educational manipulatives aren't designed with multilingual learners in mind, but a 3D printer will allow us to create customized resources that match my students' language proficiency, vocabulary, and instructional needs. Students will strengthen their English by following multi-step directions, describing processes, using academic vocabulary, collaborating with classmates, and presenting their creations. Every print becomes an opportunity to practice listening, speaking, reading, and writing in meaningful ways.

This project will transform our classroom into a makerspace where students are creators instead of just consumers. Rather than relying solely on purchased materials, students will design resources that support their own learning and leave a lasting impact on future classes. The printer will become a tool for creativity, innovation, and confidence. It will help students discover that every new layer they print is another layer of language, knowledge, and success they are building for themselves.
