Even with limited classroom funding and resources, it is always my goal to create a fun, engaging, and purposeful learning environment. My students work hard to gain new knowledge through hands-on learning. Granting students with tools like a constellation projector when learning about our solar system or being able to be surgeons as we learn about the human body is a way for students to actively engage in their learning.
The materials from this project will help the students learning transfer to the possibilities learning brings in real life.
We aren’t just learning the types of rocks we are putting on hats and being geologists. While learning the elements of fairytales students also step into the fairytale and act out problems and solutions. The joyful and meaningful connections fostered will plant the seeds for dreams of their futures as doctors, authors, scientists and more. After a successful hands on culminating activity day a student can leave the classroom self-confidence and a huge smile.
