My Project

This project will create a take-home book shelf filled with high-interest, age-appropriate books for my first grade students. Students will be able to choose books to take home, read, and return, or they may keep the books to build their own home library. Providing this flexibility allows all students to have access to reading materials, regardless of their home situation. Having books at home encourages daily reading, strengthens literacy skills, and builds confidence and independence in young readers.

Access to books at home supports reading growth, family involvement, and a lifelong love of learning.

Students will feel proud to choose their own books and excited to read outside of school. This project helps close the reading gap and ensures every child has the opportunity to succeed.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
