Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is nestled in the heart of a vibrant community where diversity flourishes. I'm reaching out for support to enhance our students' growth by acquiring materials crucial to my role. As a school social worker, my mission is to equip our students with the skills to navigate the intricate terrain of emotions and relationships. Storytelling, a timeless tool for passing on traditions and beliefs, remains invaluable in this journey.
I'm seeking funding for a diverse selection of books that delve into various social-emotional learning concepts.
Titles like "Enemy Pie" facilitate empathy, conflict resolution, and friendship skills, while "How Full Is Your Bucket" encourages kindness and fosters a positive self-image. Books serve as captivating vehicles for both entertainment and meaning-making, making them an ideal tool to engage our students.
Our students, ranging from 3 to 11 years old, represent a tapestry of backgrounds, including refugees, asylum seekers, and families facing economic hardships in a low socio-economic community. Your support will enable us to offer even more resources and tools to nurture our students' growth and development.
Additionally, I and my team work closely with a consistent caseload of students for general counseling, supported by dedicated school social work interns who contribute to our children's growth and healing.
Your contribution makes a difference in shaping a brighter future for our students. Thank you for considering and supporting our mission!
