My Project

Books have the power to inspire creativity, teach important life lessons, and help students feel connected and understood. In my elementary art classroom, I want to use illustrated books as a way to introduce projects, encourage imagination, build classroom community, and support social-emotional learning.

Many of these stories teach lessons about kindness, confidence, perseverance, creativity, and self-expression while also exposing students to different illustration styles and artistic techniques.

As a teacher at a brand new school with limited funding, I do not currently have access to many of these valuable classroom resources. These books would help transform my classroom into a space where students can connect literacy with art, engage in meaningful discussions, and feel excited to create. My goal is for students to not only learn artistic skills, but also develop confidence, empathy, and a lifelong love for creativity and learning.
