Building Confidence in Athletic Skills Using Soft Foam Dodgeballs
My students need soft foam balls to help them build skills in catching, throwing, and cooperation. The Gator Skin Dodgeballs help take out the fear of being hit by a ball as they build their proficiency.
We are a Title I school with different backgrounds. We have 23 languages represented on our campus and some of our students are refugees. Even with all our difference, health and fitness is a universal need.
Due to our population, many kids do not have an opportunity to take advantage of extracurricular activities.
Many of our students do not get the required amount of exercise a day. The live sedimentary lifestyles. They lack the motivation and knowledge on the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Our students are eager to learn and achieve but are not sure how to implement fitness into their lifestyle. Many of them live off of fast food, heat and serve meals, and video games/TV.
My students want to learn to play sports. However, some of my students are afraid to try because of their fear of the ball. Using soft foam Gator Skin Dodgeballs takes the fear out of trying new things. This will help my students build hand-eye coordination, teamwork, and athletic skills such as catching and throwing. Some of my classes consist of special needs children with a variety of disabilities. During our mainstreaming sections, having these soft foam dodgeballs will make providing accommodations a bit easier so they are still working on the same skill while making it accessible for them.
The Soft Foam Dodgeballs will aide in making PE accessible for all children while building confidence.
First and foremost is to give all students a chance to engage in our activities without the fear of getting hurt. They can attempt each activity with confidence and work on building and refining their skills.
