Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

A classroom rug will allow my students to come together and have a comfortable place to sit. I teach at a Title I school. Most of my students are English language learners and I am finding that when I have them closer to me and the board they are more attentive and can see what I am writing on the board. My district recently replaced our carpet with linoleum flooring and the rug will be appreciated!

Having my students sit together, builds a sense of community.

Having a rug will also allow a place for my class to come together and have class meetings where we discuss any problems in the class, good things that are happening and some things that we can improve on.

I want my students to have a love for reading. So I am also trying to build my class library and want to make a nice space for my students to be able to sit comfortably and read books. The bean bag chairs will give them that comfortable place to sit and read. I hope to get more in the future. The students will also be able to sit or lay on the rug and read.
