This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students in my classroom are eager to learn, passionate, and hard-working. They are an extension of my family; they inspire me every single day. I want to encourage them to try their best, learn from their mistakes and start to see their full potential.

Part of making my classroom an inclusive and inviting place is to have activities and games that promote teamwork and collaboration.

I would love to be able to update our classroom games to include games that kids can play in small groups to have fun and to learn a little bit about each other.

My Project

My students are super hard-working, but sometimes they just want to have some fun. Our classroom is a place where all students feel welcomed, safe, and supported. Building this community of learners doesn't happen overnight, it takes time, trust, and opportunities to get to know each other.

Small card and board games are a fun and easy way for my students to connect with each other outside of academic work.

Having these games in our classroom would allow me to have a fun community building activity for students to do in small groups. Each week students would have the opportunity to get to know how each other thinks, our humor, all in the spirit of friendly competition. "Bubble Talk" and "Spot It" are games that can be played in small groups. "Goat Lords," Squirrels," and "Not Parent Approved" are easy games to store in the classroom and can be used for a group of students who finish their work early, to play during rainy day recess, or in a structured class meeting setting. The point is to let the kids spend time with each other.
