My Students

My students are the best! I may be a bit biased in saying that, but I truly care for each and every one of them as if they were my own. I am currently entering my 10th year of teaching, with 8 of those years being spent in a kindergarten classroom.

My primary goal this school year will be to build relationships within our classroom community, introduce and enhance our social-emotional skills and provide my students with a fun, loving first schooling experience.

I began teaching at a new school last year, which has one of the most diverse populations I have ever had the privilege of working with. Our budget is limited, but I do not want my students' experiences to be. My goal is to build the community in which we live, one student at a time.

My Project

My classroom is a safe place where we work all throughout the school year on building a strong classroom community. My students LOVE to work together in small groups and in one-on-one settings. Collaboration is not the easiest when seated at individual desks, especially for kindergarten-aged children.

The donations to this project will ultimately help to bring my students together in a special community meeting place where they can collaborate with one another.

This will increase conversation, collaboration and engagement within my kindergarten classroom. Having a dedicated gathering place on a new carpet will allow my students to come together, like a family, and build positive relationships with each other, while in a classroom setting.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
