Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work in a school where most of the population are from very low-income families. The school is a Title I school offering free breakfast and lunch to all studetns. All of these students hold a special place in my heart. My students come to school and work very hard each and every day.
I am so proud of the effort these students put forward to become better citizens and smarter students.
We not only teach academics, but we also focus on citizenship and respect. We take great pride in our students' ability to show respect to themselves, others and the environment around them.
My Project
Our school takes great pride in our PBIS program. PBIS, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, has been established by the Office of Special Education Programs, US Department of Education to give schools capacity-building information and technical assistance for identifying, adapting, and sustaining effective school-wide disciplinary practices. The awards and incentives I am requesting include SmileMakers Character Trait Wristbands, Great Job Trophies, Bracelets and Bouncy Balls. These great prizes that will be used to promote positive behavior in our school. In our school, students are recognized every day for positive behavior choices by receiving PRIDE Paws. These items will certainly motivate them to keep up the outstanding behavior. These prizes will be awarded to students by having an giving them an opportunity to shop in our school-wide PBIS School Store!
We are very proud of the respect and courtesy that our students show to visitors in our school!
Our students are building relationships with peers, adults, and mentors with respect serving as the foundation. Our data shows that this program is working.
