Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are goofy, silly, funny, emotional, frustrated, energetic, impulsive and are craving someone to care about them. My classroom consists of 10 students with special needs and 15 students of mixed English Language Learners and general education students. This makes it difficult to meet the various needs of the students in my classroom. I do my very best to make each child feel special and like they CAN do it. My school has a very large population of low socioeconomic students, as well as children in shelters. It would be great to give these students a chance and an opportunity to meet their optimal potential.
My Project
I would like to allow my students the opportunity to gain control of their learning. My students need letter and number practice. Using the Letter Sound Flower Garden and the Launching Letter Sound Games, they will learn to be more independent and help them develop the foundational learning skills needed as the basis to their educational career. This will allow them to take ownership of their learning by becoming more independent and in turn creating a student driven classroom. My students will learn their letters and sounds in a fun, imaginative and creative way. I want this to lead my students on the road to discovering self confidence. This greatly helps foster their fine motor skills, as well as their ability to socialize appropriately with their peers. My students also need Name Tags in order to learn their own names as well as those of their peers.
Donations to my project will be empowering students through art as well as helping foster a student-driven classroom.
It will give students confidence by allowing them to feel ownership over their learning and their environment. My students come from broken homes and are often in and out of shelters. Having a real space with the tools needed to guide them in their learning practice and being able to call that space their own to depend on, would give them the drive to want to go on in life and succeed.
