Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I love teaching and my students truly love learning! The school is a Title I at-risk school and my students are in second grade, many are gifted but not all. The school itself is very small due to it’s location in the middle of the city. Since state funding is tied to the number of pupils, budget cuts have been made. I would love to add high interest reading material to my classroom library to build their love of reading.

My Project

We need real, hard copy books in each student’s hands. My students love to read and love having a variety of literature. I would like to add a variety of chapter books to my classroom library to give them more reading choices. I would like to get students interested in different book series to get them excited about reading. The books I’ve selected are among my students favorites! Having actual copies of them in my classroom would continue to spark their joy of reading. Along with boosting their reading enjoyment, these books will help increase student vocabulary and reading level.
