My Project

The books in this collection center around the theme "building bridges." This is a multi-subject unit addressing not only learning about famous bridges around the world but also engineering bridges out of various materials and even figuratively building bridges.

This unit will span a variety of academic subjects including math, science, reading, geography, and social emotional learning.

Upper elementary students will build knowledge across multiple subjects to make connections for a deep understanding and to engage students with interesting topics.

Activities in the unit will support student learning by studying the main types of bridges, searching for bridges in the community, literally building bridges that can support weight, discussing how to build figurative bridges with others, and a culminating project which will be a museum-type display of student bridges. The books in this collection will provide a foundation which includes vocabulary, illustrations, diagrams, and examples.
