My Students

Peek into my classroom on any given day and you will see second graders challenging themselves to learn, grow, and develop as wonderful human beings. There isn't a single way to describe us. We are a busy classroom full of eager learners. We are a melting pot of cultures, learning, and growing from each other. We are part of a larger school that celebrates the inclusion of each and every student.

My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day.

Our school is in a small, rural community, and my students come from many walks of life. We have future farmers who will operate and run family farms. We have students who share their passion for art, literature, and video game design.

Second graders are inquisitive and eager to do the hard stuff. We’re exploring and explaining through our learning. Students are able to share and make personal connections with one another. The work we do in this classroom is building relationships and building a classroom community. We celebrate little wins together each day.

My Project

Colorado winters can be full of snow and chilly. These winter days can prevent students from going outdoors and getting fresh air. While we are stuck inside, I want to provide my students with the opportunity to get creative and spend time building.

The Magna Tiles, K'nex, and dominoes are the tools that can help students engage with Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics, or STEM.

We often don't have time to get creative, play, and build because we are so busy learning and working on meeting the CO academic standards. Let's take advantage of being forced indoors and get busy building.
