My Students

My students need to believe that they can be the change they want in the world. In our community there is a lot of new construction going on. It is my hope that they will soon be the builders and engineers in our community.

My kindergarten students come from a very low socio economic area.

Our school is 100% free and reduced lunch and has recieved a grant to provide fresh fruit or vegetables to them daily. 60% of my students come from a single parent household. There are several prisons in our community and many of our students have incarcerated family members.

My Project

My students have very little opportunity to express any creativiity. There are so many students who have no imagination on how to play anything other than a video game. I believe that being able to play creatively will inspire students to find advernture in reading and writing. My students need blocks in our classroom to build whatever they can imagine.

My students light up incredibly when they see many of the things in my classroom.

I am not sure about how their playthings are taken care of or aranged but they are so excited to get touch and play with the few blocks we have in our class.
