My Students

This fall, I launch my second year of teaching a new grade level, 1st graders. I have yet to meet me students, but I am excited for the adventure that awaits them as they continue to build their foundation for literacy and their love of books! One of my favorite things about working with primary students is their wide-eyed wonder for learning.

The students I have the pleasure of serving come from a variety of linguistic backgrounds, countries and experiences.

Some students may be experiencing school for the first time, others may rely on the stability and consistency that school has to offers. Regardless, my goal is to create a safe and loving environment that allows students to fall in love with learning and experience triumph in their biggest and smallest victories.

My Project

The variety of text materials I am requesting will foster a love of reading that students started building in kindergarten. The primary years are crucial for building a solid literacy foundation that will allow students to be successful readers, writers and thinkers as they continue through school.

Students need to see characters that look like them, in the books they read.

This variety of text materials will provide us with fun and thoughtful read aloud stories and books for students to enjoy independently as they build fluency and comprehension.
