Building Blocks for a Better FuturePiece By Lego Piece

My students need this storage cart to store the many Legos we have acquired to use in my STEM Lego Club. My current storage isn't as mobile and difficult to set up and store.

My Students

The students at my intermediate school come for all economic and academic backgrounds creating a heterogeneous population which provides great opportunities for me as a classroom teacher. The students I teach have multiple academic levels. I teach children with autism, gifted, with learning disabilities and regular ed children. Project based learning is how I try to teach provide more opportunities for the children's abilities to shine, no matter what their strengths and concerns are.

About 35% of my students in my class are from low socioeconomic families and the resources at my school are limited, to the point where I purchase a lot of supplies for my students on my own.

My Project

This project will provide proper storage and accessibility to the many Legos we will be using during our Lego Club and STEM projects. Currently, the storage containers have to be carried. I have Legos stored in plastic containers with handles. I hold the Lego Club in the cafeteria, so I have to transport the Legos. Multiple containers to be carried can be done, but takes time away from the lesson and the projects. Clean up and organization takes more time at the end of the club meeting as well. If I could get this storage cart, organization and the ease of getting the Legos in and out, would free up more time for the creation of the STEM projects that I will be teaching.

Children are natural engineers, they are wanting to build and create, having more time for this, instead of the organization, would make for a more productive project.
