This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Wow! More than half way through this school year, I am blown away by the amazing students that I have in my class. My students are hard workers, resilient, compassionate and love to learn.
Everyday I am amazed by their intelligence and the way that they face new challenges.
We are a title 1 school that supports students with highly diverse backgrounds and sometimes that means supporting students that may not have all their needs met at home. Although they face great challenges in the classroom and outside the classroom, this group of students has remained dedicated to their school work and proud of their school. The way they come together to help and encourage each other is something to admire and something I learn from each and everyday.
I am fortunate to work along side some of the most amazing teachers out there. We are a hard working staff that has embraced the population that we serve and the community that surrounds us.
I knew on day one that this class has something special going on and I can't wait to see how much they grow!
My Project
My classroom library is in need of new high interest books for my students to read. Everyday they get an opportunity to pick up a good book and put their reading skills to use.
Seeing a student get excited about reading a new book is one of the best things you can ever witness.
It has become apparent that my library is in need of some of the books that they love the most. Having a classroom library that students can browse and pick for themselves a book that they can get into, helps build a love for reading that will last a lifetime.
