Building and Modeling Using 3D Printing Technology

Help me give my students iPad mini and a 3D printer to build and model historical art and architecture models.

My Students

My students are a lively bunch of US History students eager to learn new ways to enjoy and become more aware of their community. My students are from an extremely diverse community of kids from every ethnicity and gender group. We pride ourselves on our inclusion and diversity.

My Project

The student workstation will include an active 3D Printed model of future dwellings and objects being created. Students will take an active role in what and how these items will be made.

The iPad will be utilized for student design work ideas to be sent to the 3D printer.

Materials explored on the web site Thingiverse, an application on the IOS site.

In the past, we constructed these models out of paper. With the 3D printer, we will use PLA and other materials to model building structures, materials, and building techniques.

In each unit, we build on the ideas from the previous one. Each unit includes an area of technology that has transformed our world. Robotics and building techniques have evolved over the centuries, and have transformed our world. In World Civilizations, we explore the Greeks and the Romans, as well as architecture that has influenced what and how we build today. I am building a workstation that will explore and model 20th century technology in use that is transforming, once again how we live and how our future (possibly on another world will begin) IE: MARS
