Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach a bright third-grade group of 24 English Language Learners. My students deserve a clean and equitable environment across the board. There is a shortage within the education system across the country, but along with that, are shortages in other departments as well. One of those departments in our district is the housekeeping and engineering staff.

Even though it is not my job to clean around the school and my classroom, I try my best to keep it clean and organized.

It has been especially different because we are not provided basic upkeeping supplies like a broom, dustpan, vacuum, dusters, or even a light mop. My students are also continuously running out of supplies, especially pencils, and our sharpener has broken, sadly. We as a classroom community all help clean the room and my students really enjoy making a contribution to maintaining the class. We all take pride in our classroom and would like to keep it clean so that we can all have a comfortable environment that allows us to stay healthy.
