Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a special education resource teacher serving students in grades K-2 at a Title I elementary school, I provide targeted academic support, individualized instruction, and social-emotional learning each day. For many students, the resource room is a place where they build confidence, develop new skills, and celebrate their growth.

After years of daily use, many of the materials that help keep our classroom organized, safe, and welcoming have worn out.

My storage carts are more than 10 years old, and their broken wheels make it difficult to safely store and access instructional materials. Other classroom items, including bulletin board borders and string lights, have also become damaged and need replacement.

This project will provide updated storage carts and organizational materials to help keep learning resources accessible and organized for small-group and individualized instruction. Supplies such as pushpins will help display classroom supports and create a warm, inviting environment where students feel comfortable and ready to learn.

I am also requesting a social-emotional learning book for my incoming second-grade students. This resource will support lessons on emotions, self-regulation, problem-solving, coping strategies, and positive classroom behaviors. These skills are critical for helping students succeed both academically and socially.

A well-organized and welcoming resource room helps students stay focused, engaged, and confident. By refreshing this learning space, you will help create an environment where students feel supported, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential.
