My Students

I teach Special Education Preschool. One of the things I love about preschool is seeing how much my students progress in such a short time. They often enter preschool with little to no speech and leave my class excited to share what they have learned.

My students love to learn and it's a joy to watch them eagerly tackle all the activities that I plan for them.

We spend our days busy learning through play, reading stories, singing songs, dancing, cooking, making art, building structures, practicing taking turns and sharing. They are so proud of what they accomplish and I love facilitating that "can do" attitude.

My Project

Building blocks are a crucial component of the early childhood learning landscape. The blocks that I have chosen for my preschool classroom are wooden blocks with a hollow center which allows them to be large and durable, yet lighter than they otherwise would be if they were solid.

Blocks help children develop logical thinking, hand-eye coordination and other motor skills, spatial relations, structural stability, physics, dramatic play, social-emotional skills, language and communication skills and more as they interact and play with them.

It may seem like just play but it is purposeful play and it is how children learn.
