Building a Library That Is Always Open

My Project

We set out this year with the goal to reinvigorate the love of reading in our students. We developed classroom routines and expectations that allowed students to curl up with books and let their minds wander while developing skills to help build their reading confidence. We continued our Books and Bites book club from last year that meets to read and discuss books of all kinds. We invite students to shop in our classroom libraries when they want a new book. As soon as a student is done reading a book, we have more to give them.

Reading has once again become a driving force in our classrooms and in our book clubs, and our greatest challenge has been keeping the books flowing - and that is the best "problem" to ever have.

This grant will allow us to continue purchasing multiple copies of titles that the students have asked to read and are quality, thought-provoking stories that will continue to fire up this love of reading.
