This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Sometimes students don't see their identities reflected in typical classroom books. My goal is to connect students to high-interest novels and help them become lifelong readers. The American Library Association recommends that "there be 1,500 books in every classroom" (Kelly Gallagher, Reading Reasons).

In order to help my students discover a love for reading, it's essential that high-interest titles surround them.

I would love to implement daily reading in our ELA studies, but it becomes difficult with limited book choices. Helping fund this library project could really make a difference in the development of students who want to read - they just need the right books.
