Building a Classroom Library

Help me give my students Teachers Pay Teachers resources and a classroom library that has books centered around race and diversity.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Loving's classroom raised $883

This project is fully funded

My Project

My students are 90% African American. The current curriculum that is used does not include stories about African Americans or that are written about African Americans. I would like to build a library and supplemental materials that can assist for my students that resembles who they are. I want them to read books that are written about African Americans.

I have learned that when my students read books or articles that are written by or the story is about African Americans, they are more invested in their work.

They are always looking for more and wanting to learn more. I want to give my students this opportunity to learn more about African American authors or stories told from an African American perspective with books such as March and Call Us What We Carry.

The resources from Teachers Pay Teachers will provide supplemental resources for students. Students will be given bell ringer assignments that are differentiated based on their academic skill level. The resources will also provide the students with additional practice.
