My Students

Did anyone ever recommend a book to you that completely spoke to you; a book that, upon finishing, made you want to read yet another? This is exactly what I'm hoping to do for my students.

I teach freshman English (from remedial to college prep) at a public high school in CA.

As funds for libraries quickly diminish, the need for current, exciting classroom libraries is essential. My students' reading skills vary drastically and so it is important for me to have a large range of books for them to choose from that speak to them and leave them craving more. (Especially since research proves that the more they read, the better readers and writers they become).

My Project

With your donation, you will enable me to get two copies of each of the top 10 books from the "Best Fiction for Young Adults" of this current year, 2015, for my classroom library. (As awarded by YALSA--the Young Adult Library Services Association). Not only will hundreds of students benefit from these books this year, my future students will also be able to use these books, thus providing for literally thousands of students.

Please help me provide books that my students are not only willing but eager and excited to read.

These books could literally change their lives (both academically and emotionally).
