Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Help me give my students a welcoming and engaging classroom library where they can grow as readers and discover a love for books.

Returning to the classroom this year has been a full-circle moment for me.

I am now teaching 3rd grade in the very same rural school where I was once a student—the place that first inspired me to become a teacher and make a difference. I have seen how powerful it is when students are surrounded by high-quality, engaging books, and I want to recreate that experience for my own learners.

My goal is to build a classroom library that feels inviting, organized, and accessible to every student. The addition of sturdy bookshelves will allow students to easily browse and select books that match their interests and reading levels, encouraging independence and ownership in their reading journey. Cozy area rugs and soft lighting will transform a corner of our classroom into a warm, comfortable space where students feel relaxed, safe, and excited to read.

My students are curious, hardworking, and full of potential, but many have limited access to books outside of school. By creating a welcoming reading environment, I hope to spark their imagination, build their confidence as readers, and foster a lifelong love of learning. This project is more than just classroom materials—it is an opportunity to open doors to new worlds through reading.
