Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are at such a fun age. They're no longer little kids, but they're still figuring out who they are and who they want to become. One of my favorite things about teaching is watching students realize they have something valuable to say and helping them find the confidence to say it.

As a 6th grade ELA teacher, I want my classroom to be more than just a place where students complete assignments.

I want it to be a space where they feel comfortable taking risks, sharing ideas, building relationships, and growing as readers and writers.

The resources in this project will help make that possible. The rolling whiteboard will allow me to create anchor charts that students can reference all year long, while the portable HDMI transmitter will make lessons more interactive and allow us to easily share student work and celebrate learning. The label maker and organization containers will help create systems that keep our classroom running smoothly so students can spend more time learning and less time searching for supplies.

The flexible seating will help transform our reading corner into a cozy space where students actually want to curl up with a good book. The digital and analog timers will help students visualize their independent work time and build responsibility and time-management skills. And of course, every teacher knows that a dependable pencil sharpener and plenty of dry-erase markers are small tools that make a big difference every single day.

This year, our classroom theme is Main Character Energy because I want every student to know that their story matters. These resources will help create a learning environment where students feel seen, supported, and empowered to take ownership of their education and become the main characters in their own success stories.
