Building a Champion eSports Program at PCA!

My Project

Esports is a growing movement that offers students nationally to not only prove their gaming prowess, but allows them to build upon critical soft skills needed in today's work environment like teamwork/communication, critical problem-solving, and research/presentation. In the realm of spectator sports, eSport viewership surpasses that of the NFL and other major, traditional sports.

PCA 6-12 started our first ever eSports team this year, winning the BCPS Minecraft Education Battle of the Beaches competition!

We also represented our district in the middle school division against schools from PBCS. In addition, our district STEM+CS department coordinated a Rocket League eSports competition, but we were not able to participate due to lack of hardware that can handle the requirements of the game.

We know hardware such as high performance gaming laptops, Xbox controllers, and an APC battery backup have high startup costs, but these are necessary components to elevate our program to Rocket League and other future eSports opportunities within our school district. Your generous donations of five gaming laptops and controllers will help us continue building upon our early success and expand PCA 6-12 eSports program to an elite level, which deserves the same kind of support and funding for traditional sports and athletics. For our new high school that was formed this year, eSports will provide another extracurricular that can enhance a student's achievement/activity transcript, making them eligible for a growing number of college scholarships to universities that have their own programs.
