My Students

My students are at the age where they are falling in love with reading! They are curious and full of wonder at the magic of a good book.

I want to do all I can to facilitate life-long avid readers.

When students know how to read for pleasure, they are not only building reading stamina, but they are building comprehension skills in a "safe" environment. These skills transfer in ALL areas of their education. A child who loves to read will never stop learning!

My Project

What did you LOVE to read as a child? In my experience, this is the age where students find a series they love for their rest of their lives. They will look back at that series (or several series) as a defining part of their childhood and development.

By providing a range of already beloved series, we can allow these learners to explore what makes their heart happy.

I've chosen several "starter sets" of fiction books for this exact reason. My students have their own book box which they will use to choose and keep books they are wanting to explore during their quiet reading time.
