My Students

My second graders are super learners. My students come from diverse ethnic and familial cultures in a large community that welcomes refugees and second-language learners. In my classroom we strive to work together as we maintain a positive learning outlook and cheer on our fellow classmates along the path to knowledge.

My students are eager to acquire knowledge, to share, and to work hard to improve themselves as learners and leaders in our community.

I am blessed to have the students I have this year; I can't help but smile as I greet them each morning. I am trying to teach them and have these children increase their knowledge of reading, writing, math, science and the world around us. My second graders are bright, creative, motivated and eager to improve themselves and stretch to use their growth mindset every day. Their desire and focus to learn each day is astounding.

My Project

My students keep asking me when we will be doing the "fun science". The time can be right now! With your help the time will be right now, and my class can enjoy creative, hands-on learning with magnets, building with blueprints and blocks, water tubes, levers pulleys and so much more.

My students have a passion for building, creating and using their hands to learn and discover new things.

With these building materials and activities my students will learn all about engineering, mathematics, and how to think critically and problem solve, with real problems not just a word problem in our math workbook.

We will learn why magnets attract and repel. My students will build a roller coaster for marbles, design a city out of Legos, and create mazes for their partners to find a way out. They will work with small groups to use synergy and persevere to be able to learn and solve problems together. They are thrilled with the opportunities that await them.
