Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Ms. Davey's "Tech Hacks!" and Mr. T's "Minecraft Strategy/ Construction..." projects inspired me to submit this STEAM project to bring similar opportunities to my 5th graders in which they may pursue STEAM-related fields. School is the one place where they can experience learning through teamwork in designing, building, and using technology to present their ideas.
Students will be able to create and design structures and use the Minecraft application on the iPad mini to gain a deeper understanding of how design impacts structures in real life.
This project would allow students to really hone in on specific cognitive skills necessary to problem solve and make modifications to their structures. The materials on this project provide my students with an abundance of STEAM activity opportunities. With the LEGOs, my students will have the hands-on experience of creating structures like buildings as well as digitally creating towns and cities by using the iPad mini in Minecraft.
