This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a Title I school. Every student is on free breakfast and lunch. Students that attend the school all live in the neighborhood of the school. They enjoy engaging in group activities and projects. Students like to research new and exciting things and report back to the class with their findings. Students are active participants in their learning environment. Many of them do not have technology at home and desire and need to have that experience at school.
My Project
My students love to get on playgrounds and work through the I Can Code Program on the iPads I share with another teacher in our school. However, it doesn't give them the hands on opportunity that fits with so many of their unique learning styles. The LEGO kit would allow them to build a robot. Then, they would get to program it on the iPads. They could see their program run on something right in front of them. They will be able to correct programs that are not coded correctly and try until they get the desired results. This would give them the opportunity to foster their learning style.
