My Students

After a long year of virtual and hybrid learning, my second graders are ready for a normal year! They are excited about hands-on activities, group work, and accessing our classroom library.

My students have been missing out on easily accessible, physical books to read this year.

It has been a challenge for us to engage in independent reading with fidelity, an activity that is vital to students' reading success! I have a class full of eager learners who are reading to grow their reading skills!

My Project

My students' favorite time of the day is when they get to dive into a good book. In second grade, we are still building important social and emotional learning skills. One thing I continue to place value on is their community.

Students in my school come from and are a part of many different communities.

These books will help them see communities that are like their own, and communities that are totally different. These books will help students to build empathy toward and curiosity about the world around them while continuing to bring the joy of reading to our class!
