My Students

Walt Disney said "If you can dream it, you can do it." This is the philosophy of my classroom. My students are living in a world that is ever changing. New technologies are leading the way to big changes and new problems. I want my students to believe that they can make the impossible possible.

My students are a lively bunch of 5th graders who are eager to learn about the world around them.

They are constantly questioning "why" and "what does this have to do with me"? I am teaching in one of the fastest growing districts in my area. The secret is out. Parents are moving to this area because of the great schools. I want to do my part to keep it that way! I am constantly looking for new and exciting ways to engage my students and help them learn to care for and protect the world around them.

My Project

I want my students to learn the importance of environmental stewardship. The world we are living in will not be the same world my students will raise their children in. Although they are young, I want my students to see that the choices they make every day in regards to reusing, reducing, or recycling can have a direct impact on the world they will grow up in. Through the use of the Environmental Detectives kit, my kids will be immersed in "real life" simulations and learn how to effectively make better choices that will have a long term effect.

Pick up any newspaper across the country and you will find that budgets are constantly being cut in education.

Teachers are expected to do more with less. I want my students to have every resource available to them and I'm willing to do my part to make this happen. Your donations will bring an important topic into the hands and the minds of our most precious resource. Will you help us?
