Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are energetic and enthusiastic third, fourth, and fifth grade special education students. Their inquisitive nature makes teaching science so much fun. Although many of my students struggle with language and academics, they are determined and have a genuine desire to learn. Their faces light up during each experiment; their eyes twinkle with excitement.
An exciting science experience transcends language and ability.
With the proper tools, my students are engaged and ready to learn. A simple demonstration can prompt a plethora of questions and lead to authentic inquiry in a matter of moments.
My Project
As a science teacher, the engineering design process is a fun and interactive portion of my teaching. The Engineering is Elementary Bubble Bonanza Kit will allow my students to take part in a collaborative problem-solving process all while learning and having fun.
My students love engineering design challenges.
Add this to the fact that bubbles are pretty awesome to make and watch float around, and my students will be overjoyed. In this unit, my students will deepen their understanding of matter, properties, and the engineering design process. This unit will provide my students with opportunities to solve problems and be creative as they engineer a variety of bubble wands and wrap up the unit by presenting a bubble showcase to some of the younger students in the school.
